A WOMAN was attacked with a hammer during a violent carjacking in Fagley.

At 5.10pm yesterday a woman in her 40s was getting into her car which was parked on Gain Lane when a man opened the passenger door and demanded she hand over the keys.

The woman was then hit on the hand with a hammer before the man climbed into the driver’s seat and drove away.

The woman's injuries were described as minor and she did not need hospital treatment.

The man has been described as Asian, slim, around 5ft 10ins and in his late teens or early 20s.

He was wearing dark clothing with a black padded jacket and had a thin black scarf covering part of his face.

The car was a black Nissan Juke with the registration D16 TMB.

The incident is not thought to be linked to a similar carjacking in Wilsden last week that saw a man being attacked with a hammer. A 30-year-old man from Bradford was arrested over that incident and later released under investigation.
