POLICE were called to Fenby Avenue, Bradford, at around 2.56pm this afternoon after a report a young teenage boy had been seen on the street carrying a blue plastic item which resembled a firearm.
District officers attended the location, not far from Bradford Forster Academy, and located the boy and recovered the item which turned out to be a BB gun.
A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police said: "No offences were reported and officers will be progressing inquiries into the matter."
It is believed a member of the public alerted the school as well as the police.
Suggestions on social media that armed officers had been called and a man arrested with a firearm have proved unfounded.
