A 43-YEAR-OLD man who waved a large stick in Bank Street, Bradford, after he said he had been attacked and left with facial injuries has been sentenced for affray.
Scott Snowden, of Mitchell Square, West Bowling, Bradford, pleaded guilty to the offence that took place outside and within The Royal Bank of Scotland building at 3.40pm on November 15 last year.
Snowden said he had been racially abused and repeatedly punched by a man he waved a big stick at in the street and chased into the bank, the court heard.
He was rapidly disarmed by a member of the public and arrested by the police at the scene.
Snowden, who had a long string of convictions for shoplifting, was now drug free and motivated to seek help to build a new life, Bradford Crown Court heard.
He was sentenced to a 12 month community order with a nine month drug rehabilitation requirement.
