THE PREMISES of a city-centre sandwich shop that closed last week are now in new hands.

The former Kroüstie shop unit in Bank Street has been taken over by Fresh Fillingz.

Fresh Fillingz already has shops in Bradford, with one on Duckworth Lane and another on Leeds Road.

The owner, Mohammed Ayaz Rashid, spoke of his desire to capitalise on the "busy rush of Broadway for business".

Mr Rashid said the new shop would be managed by Rizwan Farid, who is being trained in the Duckworth Lane store.

Mr Rashid said the Duckworth Lane branch is the more well-known of the shops, saying: "People from all over come to eat."

During its 14 years in business, Mr Rashid said it had built up quite the reputation as the place to go for a quick bite to eat.

He said the availability of the unit for a "reasonable rent" provided the ideal chance to "expand his business" further.

He said he was "confident the halal aspect will bring in more customers".

A sign has been placed outside the shop marking the change, but no work on the inside has been done as of yet.

There are plans to re-work the ceiling and floors as well as creating a seating area for customers.

There is no official date of opening, but Mr Rashid said it would be open roughly four weeks from now.
