A FORMER air stewardess at Monarch Airlines from Bradford has expressed her sadness following the airline’s collapse.

Chantel Morris, 20, had worked as cabin crew for the airline since February, before being made redundant on Monday when Monarch, the UK’s fifth biggest airline, ceased trading.

The former Tong Leadership Academy student said she was “truly heartbroken” to lose her job with Monarch.

She said: “I’m truly heartbroken to have lost my job and watch such an amazing company go under.

“I’m absolutely devastated, it was my dream job and Monarch was such a brilliant company to work for.

“There had been talks something might happen last week, and I was due to fly out to Barcelona on Monday afternoon but we got the email early on Monday saying Monarch had gone under and that was that.”

Miss Morris was one of 60 members of staff who worked for Monarch at Leeds Bradford Airport to be made redundant.
