BRADFORD'S Alhambra Theatre has won a regional heat for the UK's Most Welcoming Theatre awards.

The Alhambra has been voted winner for Yorkshire and the Humber in the awards, voted for by the public. More than 172 theatres competed for the title and more than 40,000 votes were cast.

The overall winner of the awards, in association with Smooth Radio, will be announced on October 15.

Adam Renton, General Manager of Bradford Theatres, said: "We’re extremely proud that the general public have voted for the Alhambra as the most welcoming theatre in Yorkshire and The Humber - what a great honour it is. We aim to make a visit to the Alhambra as memorable and enjoyable as possible; we care about our customers’ experience and love to extend our warm Yorkshire hospitality to everyone who walks through our doors.

"This nomination is a big achievement of which I am very proud. We hope that our endeavours here at the Alhambra will be recognised at national level when the overall winner is announced in October.”
