AID volunteer Nazim Ali from Bradford has conquered the National 3 Peaks Challenge for charity.

Mr Ali, who is a careers advisor from Manningham, was joined by family friend 15-year-old Sufyaan Bashir from Bingley Grammar School, and a group of 26 others on the trek over the recent Bank Holiday weekend.

They climbed Ben Nevis in Scotland, Scafell Pike in England and Mount Snowdon in Wales all in just one day.

The duo raised just over £3,000 with the group collectively raising more than £10,000.

Mr Ali said: "It was a major tiring challenge and prior to this we did the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge as a training run. I am proud of Sufyaan’s efforts at the tender age of 15 and am grateful to the donors who have once more supported me."

Sufyaan added: “It was challenging but a real sense of achievement, I am so happy! Not only did we climb all 3 mountains but we also travelled long distances with hardly any rest and it was hard to sleep on the minus! It is amazing Nazim and I have raised just over £3,000 for food parcels in Syria and clean water in Gaza."

The money raised will go to Dewsbury-based international humanitarian organisation, SKT Welfare.

Mr Ali has raised more than £120,000 for a number of of charitable causes over the years by running marathons, taking part in mountain treks and 10K Runs. Earlier this year he completed the Hull 10K Run whilst fasting over 18 hours on the warmest day of the year.

"I can only do what I do through the generous support of the British public and I hope like previously they will once more get behind me. Their donations and kind support really is a source of motivation and strength for me," he said.
