THE homecoming of a former Bradford College student turned computer games design expert will headline this year’s Yorkshire Games Festival.

The event, now in its second year, will take place at the National Science and Media Museum in Bradford between November 8 and 12.

Bradford-born Mohammed Ikram, known as Iki in the industry, is a headline guest on November 10.

He studied at Bradford College before going on to become one of the industry’s top visual effects (VFX) artists at Naughty Dog – the Santa Monica-based studio responsible for highly acclaimed games such as Uncharted 4 and The Last of Us.

He will deliver a keynote speech, detailing his career from growing up in Bradford to becoming one of the most sought-after games artists.

The festival will also include a talk by Arthur Parsons, head of design at TT Games, about his role in the Lego series of games, which include Marvel, Batman and Harry Potter.

He will also talk, on November 9 about the company’s game, Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2, which will be released in the UK on November 17.

Composer and musician David Wise, whose previous work includes on the Donkey Kong Country game, will look back on his 30-year career on November 11.

Other speakers include Kieran Crimmins and James Svensson, from Criterion Games, who will talk on their work on Electronic Arts’ Battlefront VR Mission on November 10.

The event will start on November 8, with a day dedicated to school groups. Pupils can take part in workshops and activities on videogames.

The festival's Let’s Play! weekend on November 11 and 12 will feature the Yorkshire Games Showcase, which highlights the best of the county’s video games.
