A POLICE car was badly damaged when a vehicle "deliberately" reversed into it twice on a major Bradford street, shoving it into another car on the road.
The incident happened just after 4pm on Monday on Otley Road in Undercliffe, near the East Ward Labour Club, and police have today released a dashboard video as part of an appeal for anyone who recognises the vehicle to come forward.
The video shows a silver Mitsubishi Shogun, travelling towards the city centre, stopping in traffic after the police tried to pull it over. It then reverses for several metres, hitting the front of the police car at speed, forcing it backwards and into the front of a Renault Trafic.
It backed into the police car another time before speeding off.
As well as causing "extensive damage" to the front of the police vehicle, the impact seems to damage the rear of the Shogun.
No people were injured in the incident.
Police are now appealing for any information to trace the occupants of the Mitsubishi.
Sergeant Penny Robinson of the Western Safer Roads and Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “Fortunately, on this occasion no one was injured however the actions of those in the Mitsubishi could have easily caused a more serious collision and caused injury to a number of other road users.
“This has caused significant damage to the police vehicle and has meant that a valuable resource for protecting the public has been taken off the road.
“Anyone who was in the area who witnesses the incident, or who has any information about the driver or occupants of the vehicle is asked to contact police via 101 quoting 1153 of Aug 21, or by calling Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
