PLANS for two new restaurants at an "under used" leisure park have been approved by planners.

Urban and Civic (Bradford) were last year given planning permission to build two extensions to the main building at the Gallagher Leisure Park in Thornbury, each of which would house a new restaurant.

Earlier this year the company applied to Leeds City Council to allow these units be separate from the main building, which contains Pure Gym and the Odeon cinema. The application said the changes had been proposed “to meet the existing leisure and future restaurant occupiers’ requirements”.

The single-storey restaurants will be joined to the existing building by a covered walkway. One restaurant will be 233 square metres and the other will be 372 square metres.

The two new restaurants will be part of an expansion of the leisure park, with an application for a KFC and Starbucks Coffee also having been approved last year.

Planning officers said: "The proposed buildings will help to regenerate a under used leisure facility which will in turn bring the whole complex into an increasingly attractive and valuable leisure facility to this area."
