TALENTED youngsters have been gearing up to perform in an all-singing all-dancing show after attending theatre sessions this week.
Set up by primary school teachers Emily Walton, 26, and Caitlin Fletcher, 23, the five-day-long theatre school gives children the opportunity to sing, dance and act, as well as get a taste of what goes on behind the scenes to help a show come to life.
The summer sessions, now in their second year, run at Saltaire Primary School, Albert Road, and finish with a show-stopping performance on Sunday night.
And while Miss Walton and Miss Fletcher have put the show together and created the choreography, the rest is handed over to the youngsters.
“It’s a really good experience for the children,” said Miss Walton. “It really brings out their confidence and they make new friends.
“They have put together a show in a week - they’ve made everything through to the programmes and the tickets. It’s just their show and we’re really proud of them.”
As well as getting a taste of the limelight when they step onto stage for the end-of-week performance, the children also had the chance to create their own set design for the show, with guidance from Ellen Fletcher.
Sunday’s show, a ‘medley of musicals’, promises to be a toe-tapping extravaganza which will include favourites from hit shows like Matilda, Oliver and Cats.
