A CHARITY set up to give young people a safe place to practice off-road motorcycling has been given a grant of almost £5,000 by the West Yorkshire Police and Crime Commissioner.
Bumpy (Birstall Urban Motorcycle Project for Youth) is a motorbike trail site set up in the 1980s as a way to get young people off the streets and onto a safe area of land where they can ride their bikes and off road vehicles.
Based off the Howden Clough Industrial Estate on Leeds Road, the organisation has since grown and now works with people of all ages, from disabled groups to local schools.
It also offers training to learner riders and motorcycle maintenance sessions.
The group have been awarded £4,740 from PCC Mark Burns Williamson’s Safer Communities Fund to help improve road safety in the local area.
