A MAN threatening to jump onto a busy road from a bridge has been coaxed to safety by police.
A spokesman said members of the public had alerted them at around 9pm to a man on a bridge over the A650 Bingley bypass saying he looked as though he intended to jump.
The road across the bridge was temporarily closed while officers attended.
Inspector Simon Brooksbank said: "The male was on the wrong side (of the barriers) and police talked him back to the right side and to safety at around 9.20pm.
"He is now getting the help he needs."
The bridge was then reopened to traffic.
