A 26-YEAR-OLD man is being treated in hospital after being assaulted in the street.
The man is described as being in a stable condition.
A police cordon was put up at the scene of the assault, in Whitley Street near its junction with Owens Quay in Bingley, while officers investigated. It has since been lifted.
A police spokesman said: "We were called to a report of an assault in Whitley Street in the early hours of this morning. Officers attended at 4.15am and found a male had been assaulted. He was taken to hospital for treatment for a serious injury."
A 20-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault and remains in custody.
The spokesman said enquiries into the circumstances were ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact the police, via 101, quoting crime reference 13170323410.
