A WRESTLING match to raise money for charity is being organised by Christians Against Poverty, in Bradford.

The event, the third Fight Against Poverty fundraiser, takes place on Saturday, July 1, at The Light Church, in the Jubilee Centre.

Gareth Thompson went debt-free through the charity's debt counselling programme over four years ago and now manages a CAP Job Club on Tuesday evenings. From this summer he will also be managing a debt centre there.

At weekends he travels the country as a pro wrestler and fights under the name of Gareth Angel.

The event on Saturday begins at 6.30pm and runs for three hours. It features an eight-man tournament to crown the first ever CAP Life Changer Champion.

Last year's event raised £1,600 with match funding from Barclays.

Tickets are £8 and £5 from: www.fightagainstpoverty3.eventbrite.co.uk

CAP is known mostly for its debt counselling, but in recent years that has expanded to include job clubs, release groups (addictions and dependencies), life skills and a budgeting course CAP Money. All are available through the Light Church and other churches throughout Bradford.
