PLANS to transform part of the Robot Building in Laisterdyke into a restaurant have been refused by Bradford Council.

Sandeep Gupta had applied to change a large unit in a former Costcutter on the corner of Killinghall Road and Leeds Road from retail to restaurant use.

Plans to convert the upper floor into seven flats were approved by the council in 2014. As part of these plans, the developer agreed to create formal on street parking spaces for the flats on Greenhill Road.

Planning officers said this agreement meant there would be no space for customers or staff of the proposed restaurant to park, and so approving the application would harm road safety around the building.

They also said the change would cause additional noise and disturbance for people living near the unit.
