POLICE who were investigating a reported serious sexual assault in Saltaire have said they are satisfied that “no crime” took place.

Yesterday morning police cordoned off an area of Roberts Park after a woman in her early 20s had reported that she had been assaulted on Monday evening.

A forensic tent was set up in a wooded area near the Half Moon Cafe, and officers were on scene investigating the park for much of the day.

Specialist officers spoke to the woman after the incident, and the police had told the Telegraph & Argus yesterday that the investigations were at an “early stage.”

This afternoon a spokesman for West Yorkshire Police reveal the investigation had concluded, saying: “Police have completed their investigation into this report and are satisfied that no crime has occurred.

“Officers have spoken to the complainant, and no further action will be taken.”

Roberts Park is one of the most popular parks in the Bradford District, and had just hosted numerous events at the Saltaire Arts Trail.

It also hosts many of the main events on the annual Saltaire Festival in September and the Bradford Dragonboat Festival.
