A GUIDED tour around Bradford’s finest cemetery will be one of the hundreds of events at this year’s Bradford Literature Festival.
Historian, author and photographer Mark Davis will be leading the Undercliffe Victorian Cemetery By Twilight event as part of the 10 day festival. from June 30 to July 9.
Mr Davis spent five years capturing the cemetery’s atmospheric majesty for his book Necropolis, City of the Dead, and will be offering his unique insight into the cemetery on his tour.
The tour will “illuminate once forgotten stories” and bring the rich history of the cemetery, and its inhabitants, back to life.
Undercliffe Cemetery was opened in 1854, contains 23,000 graves and holds a total of 124,000 burials.
It is considered one of the finest Victorian cemeteries in the country.
The event will be held on Wednesday July 5 from 8pm to 9.30pm. Tickets cost £6 (£2.40 concessions) visit bradfordlitfest.co.uk/event.
