FIRE crews from two stations were called to a house in Idle today to deal with a “bizarre” kitchen fire.
The fire started after a deep fat fryer had been left on a hob by the residents, who were said to be lucky the damage to their home wasn’t worse.
Firefighters from Idle and Bradford stations attended the incident, at 10.30am, in Moorside Road, Idle.
A spokesman for Idle fire station said the incident as “a bit bizarre”.
He said: “An electric deep fat fryer had been left on a a hob for some reason.
“The hob then heated up the oil which then caught fire, and there is quite a bit of smoke damage in the kitchen.
“Luckily the kitchen door was closed and did its job in keeping most of the smoke in there.
“It could have been a lot worse but luckily for them they got off lightly.”
