ALMOST £10,000 in cash confiscated in Bradford has been forfeited to the courts, police have confirmed.
The sum of £9,930 was originally seized while officers were investigating a suspected drugs deal in the city in February 2015.
Two men, aged 26 and 34, were both charged with money laundering, but the case was finalised at Bradford Crown Court last September when no evidence was offered against them.
Officers reviewed the case and the cash was re-seized under the Proceeds of Crime Act, with a forfeiture order for the full amount granted at Leeds Magistrates Court this week.
Mark Burns-Williamson, Police and Crime Commissioner for West Yorkshire, said: “This is fantastic work from police and the courts and sends a clear message to criminals looking for an easy payday at the expense of our communities.”?
