PEOPLE have been urged to take up ten minutes of continuous walking every day, as part of a Bradford Council-backed scheme.
A daily, brisk ten-minute walk can make people feel better, more energetic and improve their mood.
It can also help lower the risk of serious illnesses like heart disease and type 2 diabetes.
Participants have also been urged to download a free mobile phone app – Active 10 – which shows how much brisk walking a person does throughout the day, and provides tips and encouragement on how to fit ten-minute bursts of brisk walking into your day.
Councillor Val Slater, Bradford Council deputy leader and portfolio holder for health and wellbeing, said: “It’s amazing the health benefits you can get from taking a ten-minute brisk walk and a more active lifestyle. This campaign fits in with our drive to help our residents live a happier and healthier life.”
Search ‘Active 10’ online to find out more and to download the app.
