YORKSHIRE Building Society has revealed how it is making a positive impact on society in its first annual corporate responsibility performance review.
The review revealed the group committed 26,000 hours to charities and community projects last year.
It has also achieved CarbonNeutral status after reducing its carbon footprint by eight per cent since 2012.
As well as donating thousands of hours of volunteer work, YBS has raised £1.15 million for Marie Curie, and donated £7 million to local charities through its charitable foundation.
Mike Regnier, chief executive of YBS, said: “The importance of businesses and organisations embedding corporate responsibility is paramount in their role as responsible members of their communities.
“As a mutual organisation we have a rich heritage of making a positive difference to the communities where our members and colleagues live and work.”
