A NUMBER of community groups and projects have been awarded a share of more than £7,800 worth of grant money.

Bingley Town Council has handed funds to seven projects in the town from its latest round of grants.

All Saints Church was boosted by £2,000 to help fund its new path.

Cottingley Guides have been awarded £2,000 to repair their Guide hut steps and All Saints Bingley Bell Ringers received £1,650 towards repair work to the church’s bells.

Ryshworth Rangers Football Club in Crossflatts received £755 to pay for training equipment and coaching and first aid training. The Bingley Walkers are Welcome group gained £500 from the town council to help pay for advertising its walking festival, held on May 1.

The Friends of Prince of Wales Park were handed £434 to help fund a gazebo and toilets for a public event to be held at the park on May 21.

Grants are awarded three times a year, in June, October and February, with a total of £13,000 available from the grant scheme during the 2017/18 financial year. The deadline for the next round is June 1. To apply, email townclerk@bingleytowncouncil.gov.uk.
