THE first in a series of seminars held by the Muslim Women’s Council has been held at the University of Bradford.
The discussion, called Enlightened Minds: In Formation, looked into the histroy of the niqab and hijab.
The relationship between culture and religion, and marriage and feminism, were also debated at the meeting on Saturday, February 25.
The talk was led by academics Yasmin Amin and Nuzhat Ali, and women from across Bradford attended.
Bana Gora, chief executive of the Muslim Women’s Council. said “The Muslim Women’s Council seeks to engage the city’s young, female Muslim population in particular, on subjects such as gender ethics which are important to their faith.”
