DENHOLME Town Council will ask villagers to pay more in their precept this year than previous years to cover an increase in its budget to £28,000.

Councillors made the decision after discussing the benefits of increasing their precept this year, but probably not by as much next year.

This was because by the 2018/19 financial year, there should be a lot more residents paying the precept due to the large increase in new houses in Denholme.

At the same meeting the council were told that traffic calming for Hillcrest, requested by a resident, would cost £17,000.

The council has suggested to the resident and her neighbours that they could apply to the Ovenden Moor Wind Farm Fund for cash to install the traffic calming.

The Community Foundation for Calderdale is administering a £5, 000 grant pot for organisations within 5 km of the Ovenden Moor Wind Farm, which is being rebuilt on land above Denholme. The money is being provided by Yorkshire Wind Power Ltd.
