FOUR young people with special needs have been recognised by Bradford Council for their safe travelling skills today.

Keighley councillor Cath Bacon presented the awards at Beechcliffe School in the town’s Greenhead Lane at an event held last week.

Kieron Negri, 18, and Harris Roberts, 17, will be awarded their 12-month safe awards.

Meanwhile, Lucy Hargreaves, 18, will get her six-months safe certificate with Hasnain Raza, also 18, getting his three month safe certificate.

The awards are part of structured travel training helping young people make their first step towards independence.

It includes learning about walking routes and all forms of public transport including buses and trains.

Bradford Council’s Travel Training Unit works with disabled and non-disabled children and young people who require support, assistance, mentoring and training so they can plan and be able to use public transport safely.
