REPAIRS were today continuing across the district to repair damage caused by Wednesday's gale force winds, including at a charity in Shipley.
Staff and clients of The Cellar Trust, which is located in the grounds of the site previously occupied by St Walburga's Catholic Primary School in Farfield Road, escaped injured when a felt roof was ripped off at about 9am.
Kim Shutler-Jones, chief executive of the charity, which has been supporting the people of Bradford since the mid-1980s promoting recovery from mental health problems, said the building was used for psychological therapy and sessions have had to be transferred to its main premises until repairs are complete.
As well as the roof, the wind also damaged a poly tunnel. The total cost of the damage is expected to be about £4,000.
"We obviously don't want to cancel any appointments because they are desperate when they come for one-to-one support, but we have been very lucky we have our main building," she said.
"But when you are a small charity you don't have pots of money stashed away just in case your roof blows off."
Since tweeting about the incident, Mrs Shutler-Jones said many people responded offering to help.
"There is a nice sense of community," she added.
