BRADFORD South MP Judith Cummins and Bradford Council leader Susan Hinchcliffe spent more than two hours helping serve food at a 'soup kitchen'.
The Feeding the Homeless initiative, started by Saeed Younas and Abdul Satar, has been in operation at a former cafe in Manningham Lane since July.
Since then it has grown from serving 30 people to more than 250.
The politicians went along to see how the facility was helping the hungry.
Ms Cummins said: “I was delighted to help support this Bradford-wide charity in its important work. I spent the evening alongside a host of other volunteers serving food to the district’s homeless.
“I pay tribute to the local business community, who so generously support this project through food donations, vital funding and their many hours volunteering week in week out, to make sure people eat.”
“It is desperate that in this day and age so many people are struggling, homeless and are sleeping on our streets.”
Mr Satar, who runs the Office Furniture Company in Sunbridge Road, said he was delighted that Ms Cummins and Cllr Hinchcliffe had stayed so long.
"We were really busy and had served around 260 people. Usually any food left over is either given to people to take away with them or I take it to the Salvation Army centre. On Sunday there was hardly anything left.
"I think our service users appreciate what we do. They always tell us how much they enjoyed their meal and say it's the best in Bradford," he said.
Feeding the Homeless will continue to help people over Christmas and will be opening each day between Christmas Eve and New Year's Day.
