This sand sculpture with an environmental message has transformed Centenary Square in Bradford.
Created by Jamie Wardley, 28, a former pupil of Buttershaw School, Bradford, the structure was a Bradford Centre Regeneration commission to mark National Architecture Week.
Mr Wardley, who lives in Ilkley, said the design represented the fragility of humankind.
Mr Wardley started his career after helping a professional sand sculptor with his work. He said: "He thought I was quite good and I started to work for him."
After trying his hand at competitions and perfecting the art of ice and snow sculpture, Mr Wardley's skills are in high demand, but he said he liked nothing more than working in Bradford.
"I spend my life travelling round and it's very nice, but it's also quite tiresome living out of a suitcase. It's great to be at home with friends and family," he said.
The creation of the sculpture was just one of the events going on throughout the week. To round off the week Mr Wardley will hold sand sculpting workshops tomorrow and Sunday between 2pm and 5pm.
