A 71-year-old from Pool in Wharfedale has walked the length of the longest canal in the UK. Peter Kelley, of Old Pool Bank, set off from the Liverpool end of the Leeds and Liverpool Canal on thursday, June 7, and completed the 127-mile trek only five days later. Mr Kelley, who raised around £2,000 for a water supply project in Africa last summer by completing a coast-to-coast walk, undertook the canal challenge to raise money for the British Heart Foundation and to help Otley RUFC buy a new PA system.
