A new online information system is helping West Yorkshire Police make the best use of officers at major events.
The force has teamed up with an internet development consultancy to gain an instant snapshot of what's going on in the county so soccer matches, Royal visits and events like the Bradford Mela can be properly policed without leaving other areas short of officers.
All police divisions, including Bradford South, Bradford North, Keighley and Pudsey-Weetwood, are using the new system to manage resources, such as the force helicopter and police vehicles, as well as officers.
The allocation of officers was previously done manually by the force logistics division.
Inspector Graham Armitage, head of force logistics, said: "We are now better placed to predict and resolve potential conflicts in resourcing events before they arise, responding adequately and appropriately to the needs of the public."
