POLICE have urged the public to help them get nuisance bike riders off the streets, saying some residents of blighted areas will know "only too well" who is behind the problem.

The plea was made after a Fagley resident said they had no idea who owned a nuisance motorbike that was found in their back garden.

On Wednesday a PCSO on duty on Falsgrave Avenue saw a motorcycle (pictured) being used illegally on the road. He passed these details to the Anti Social Bike Team, who searched the area and found the vehicle in the rear garden of an address on Farleton Drive. However, when asked, a resident from the address claimed no knowledge of who it belonged to.

The bike was seized and enquiries are underway to identify the rider.

PC David Hitchcocks said: “Some residents in the Fagley area will know only too well who is responsible for the illegal and annoying use of bikes and quads in their community.

"Unfortunately, it is sometimes difficult for the police to act without information from residents, and I would encourage everyone to get involved and take action by helping us to help you. If everyone works together, people who choose to act in an anti-social manner will soon find themselves in the spotlight of the authorities.”
