MUSLIM comedians are on tour in a new show raising funds for orphaned and vulnerable children.

The Super Muslim Comedy Tour is back, with even more big names in the comedy world, for a UK tour taking in 13 dates this month.

Following the side-splitting success of the first ever Muslim Comedy Tour last year, it is bringing a new line-up of renowned Muslim comedians, with new material, to 13 cities - including Bradford.

The tour is presented by Penny Appeal, an international humanitarian charity, and the money raised will support orphans and children living in deprived and often dangerous environments around the world.

Working in countries including Pakistan, Bangladesh and Lebanon, the charity sets up rescue centres, giving children a safe haven and a place for education, training and support.

Funds raised on the comedy tour will support this work.

The tour includes prominent names in comedy from America and Australia, as well as some of Britain’s funniest Muslims.

The line-up includes Hollywood actor and director Omar Regan and internationally renowned comedians Nazeem Hussain and Azhar Usman, as well as Abdullah Afzal of hit BBC1 sitcom Citizen Khan.

The line-up also includes comic favourites Abdullah Afzal, Prince Abdi and Moses the Comic and rising stars Ramy Youssef, Kae Kurd, Omar Hamdi, Jay Islaam and Mistah Islah.

Omar Regan says: “The tour comes at a great time for the UK. With Islamophobia on the rise, it’s nice to be part of a positive message. Penny Appeal does some incredible work and it’s amazing to think we can have fun together and at the same time help children who need our help.”

Penny Appeal chief executive Aamer Naeem adds: “This year is anticipated to be even bigger than last year, with new cities and new comedians.

"It will be a unique opportunity for families and communities to gather together and have a hilarious evening while helping launch a new campaign to help forgotten children who desperately need interventions.

“The support we have received from the public and the artists involved has been overwhelming. Tickets have only recently gone on sale and some venues are already 50 per cent sold out!”

Penny Appeal works in more than 30 crisis-hit countries to alleviate poverty by offering water solutions, supporting orphan and elderly care, restoring sight to those with avoidable blindness, providing food, delivering emergency aid, and opening schools, orphanages and mosques.
