A TEACHING assistant at a Bradford school has sacrificed his beard to raise money for charity.
Dan Dean, who works at Greengates Primary School, was raising money for armed forces charity Help for Heroes.
Head teacher Andy Gaunt said: "It was fantastic, it went very well and we raised a good total.
"In the school we have six houses who are all taking part in a fundraising competition, and the beard shave was a part of that and I think the children all had a good time.
"Dan has had the beard for quite a while now and it was pretty thick and bushy, he's been growing it for over a year.
"He was pretty sad to see it go, and he said he will start growing it back straight away; he looks like a completely different person."
The next fundraising event at the school in Stockhill Road is an all-day football match which will be taking place in the coming weeks.
