A BRADFORD student has organised a fun day to raise money to improve the lives of impoverished Jamaican children.
The family event at the Old Vic Pub in Little Horton tomorrow has been organised by Lisa Humphrey, who will be travelling to the country this summer to volunteer at schools and children’s homes.
She hopes to raise £5,000 so she can donate essentials to the children, some from the poorest areas of the country, while she is there.
The event runs from noon until late, and includes live music, children’s activities like a bouncy castle and food.
Miss Humphrey, 29, a student at the University of Bradford and part time residential support worker, will be visiting a children’s home in Montego Bay, a basic school in Lucea, and the maternity ward at St Anns hospital Ocho Rios during her time in Jamaica.
She will be distributing baby bottles, nappies, sterilising tablets, babywipes, sports and school equipment for children.
