A COMMUNITY Arts project that was left homeless after a mill fire has got a new roof over its head.
Cecil Green Arts have taken over a shopfront in Bradford's Darley Street, up from the old Marks and Spencers, just in time for its next Out of The Ashes project creating puppets for Bradford Festival in July.
The fire in January had destroyed Drummonds Mill in Manningham's Lumb Lane, where the group had kept its materials, tools and puppets and it had to start from scratch.
Now the arts and street theatre company has received £2,000 funding from Bradford Council to run community workshops from its new home encouraging people to have a go at creating puppets for the Festival parade.
Harry Kingham, an artist with Cecil Green Arts, said: "It's very exciting to have an arts space again from where we can start work on new creations, I expect the project will have a fiery theme."
Public workshop dates are Tuesdays from 4pm to 6pm on June 14, 21, 28 and July 5; Thursdays from 7pm to 9pm, June 16, 23, 30, July 7 and Saturday, June 25 from 1pm to 3pm and 4pm to 6pm.
