A WOMAN has been jailed for four months after setting up a £6,000 cannabis farm five months after being sentenced for growing a previous crop of the Class B drug.

Deborah Flowers, 47, was told by Judge Robert Bartfield yesterday: "If you get a chance and you throw it back in the court's face you will go to prison."

Flowers was caught growing eight cannabis plants at her address in Bertie Street, Cutler Heights, Bradford, on November 27 last year.

Prosecutor Mark Brookes told Bradford Crown Court that police called to a domestic dispute heard the bedroom door slam shut and became suspicious.

The cannabis farm had an estimated yield of 720 grams and a street value of up to £6,171.

In June last year, Flowers was sentenced to a community order with unpaid work at Bradford Crown Court for growing cannabis at a previous address in Oddy Street, Tong, Bradford.

The court heard that, on February 11, 2015, police discovered 20 pots of cannabis plants at the property.

Flowers said then she was on benefits and £2,500 in debt.

She pleaded guilty to production of cannabis.

Her solicitor advocate, Tom Rushbrooke, said Flowers had admitted the second offence of cannabis production at the earliest opportunity. She also pleaded guilty to possession of a small bag of cannabis.

Mr Rushbrooke said Flowers had turned to alcohol and cannabis after suffering two tragic bereavements.

She had now moved to another home and was seeking help for her problems.

Judge Bartfield said she knew the crop had "substantial value" and would have been warned by the judge on the last occasion not to repeat the offending.
