A BRADFORD man is appealing for help to trace a thief who stole cash and a passport from his car, which was parked on his drive.

CCTV footage captured the criminal rummaging in Waseem Rashid's Toyota Corolla Verso.

Mr Rashid, 31, an aviation officer, slept through the early hours theft, outside his home in Beacon Road, Wibsey, on Friday, April 1, and discovered it when he got up that morning.

The thief had searched through the car and stolen around £12 in loose change and his passport, which had £140 inside it to pay his car tax.

Mr Rashid said: "You can see, on the CCTV, the man walk across the road and into my drive. He opens the door and gets into the car and starts looking around the dashboard with a torch.

"He took the loose change from the cupholder between the two front seats and then climbed into the back and took my passport, which was on the shelf behind the back seat. I had the money for the road tax, which I was going to pay that day, in my passport, which I had put inside a newspaper. He also took my gym bag.

"I didn't know what to think when I found the door open and the car in a mess. Then I looked at the CCTV and saw what had happened."

A Bradford police spokesman said: "It has been reported to us as a theft from a vehicle, and we are investigating. We appeal for any witnesses to contact us on 101."
