MILLIONS of TV viewers will tune in tonight to see Bradford-born illusionist Dynamo re-visit his old youth club.

The superstar, who is one of the world's best known magicians, was back in his home city filming for the BBC's The One Show.

The programme which starts at 7pm will see the celebrity on the sofa talking about his childhood with show hosts Alex Jones and Matt Baker talking about his childhood.

Dynamo was with a film crew at MAPA in West Bowling yesterday where as a shy, young Steven Frayne he used to go to practise card tricks his grandpa taught him and learn break dancing.

Before the centre, he had been back inside his old house in Delph Hill and to see his grandma who still lives in the city.

Dynamo has gone on to walk across the Thames and levitated in front of Rio's Christ The Redeemer but MAPA's former manager Paul Bose, who welcomed him back to the centre, remembers him as "a quiet little lad".

Mr Bose, who has since retired but still helps out at the charity-run youth and community centre, said it was good to meet him again.

"He grew up in Delph Hill, near Wyke, and used to come down here to do a few card tricks and break dance. He was a little lad, very quiet and unassuming. I think he was about 12 or 13 at the time.

"He's proof that big things can come out of Bradford."

The centre, formerly known as Macmillan Adventure Playground Association, gets a few mentions in Dynamo's autobiography Nothing Is Impossible and that is how the makers of The One Show got in touch as part of a regular feature slot taking celebrities back to their roots.

"I think it took them a while to trace us but we're happy they did," said Mr Bose.

"It's good to welcome him back. He's always very proud when he mentions coming from Bradford and we're all very proud of him. This is a chance to tell him."

Five pupils, who on the school council at nearby Newby Primary School, went along to watch the filming and handed Dynamo an Easter egg with his name on it.

Head teacher Janice Stephenson said: "We thought we'd take an Easter egg along to thank him for giving our children the opportunity to see him and show them that if you work hard anything is possible, life is not limited and you can reach for the stars."

Dynamo, took time off during filming, for lots of selfie-stops, a game of ping pong and wowed a crowd round the pool table where years ago he tried out his very first tricks in return for tips to buy food from the snack shop window.

He said: "I think it's the same table.

"I used to get the bus to come here after we moved to Wyke. I didn't have lots of friends then but I got more comfortable with myself here.

"Other places would tell me to put my cards away or say I was being a nuisance but they let me do it. They let me be myself. It's amazing the work they do here. It's amazing it's still here."
