A GIANT dinosaur roamed through the corridors of two schools as part of special lessons on pre-historic life.

St Matthew's CE Primary School, in Bankfoot, and St Cuthbert and The First Martyrs Catholic Primary School, in Manningham, both held sessions to learn more about dinosaurs and the time they lived in yesterday.

And the lessons were really brought to life when Sophie, an animatronic seven-year-old Tyrannosaurus Rex with a realistic roar, dropped in.

The visits were part of the Life Long Ago education scheme to boost interest in science.

Kay Remmer, acting head teacher at St Matthew's, said: "Children love dinosaurs and the sessions were an ideal way to provide our younger children with wow factor science teaching.

"We were all looking forward to the Life Long Ago day and couldn't wait to see the children's faces when the life-size T-Rex arrives."

Rachel Winnery, head teacher of St Cuthberts, said: "We were really looking forward to the dinosaur assembly and an exciting day of discovery for the children.

"The sessions helped our pupils with a number of curriculum areas including science and pre-historic history.

"It was great to see how the children reacted to the life-size dinosaur when she came into the school hall."
