ARMED police were involved in a stand-off for more than two hours early today after a man possessing a knife was reported to have locked himself and an 18-month-old baby in a house in Queensbury.

Officers were called to an address in Hillcrest Road at 3.30am and found an 18-year-old woman outside the property with slight injuries to her fingers.

A police spokesman said: "The woman said her ex-partner, a 25-year-old man from Bradford, had attacked her and locked her out of the house with her 18-month old child still inside.

"It was established that the male was in possession of a knife, so armed officers were deployed to the scene.

"After some negotiation with officers, the male exited the property at 5.46am and was arrested on suspicion of assault and other matters.

"He was taken to hospital to be treated for an arm injury. The child was unharmed."
