A MOTHER accused of stabbing to death her two young daughters will come to court for the first time next Friday to answer a double murder charge.

Samira Lupidi, 24, is being assessed in prison by psychiatrists ahead of her trial date on May 9.

She did not appear before Bradford Crown Court for a short case progression hearing today.

Stephen Wood, for the Crown, said Lupidi would be brought to court to be arraigned on February 19.

She is charged with murdering Jasmine Weaver, aged one, and three-year-old Evelyn Lupidi, at their home in Mint Street, Undercliffe, Bradford, in November.

The case was first heard in her absence at Bradford and Keighley Magistrates' Court because she was too distraught to come to court.

She then appeared before the crown court on a video link from Newhall Prison on November 23.

Lupidi, an Italian national, will be assisted by an interpreter for all court hearings.

Post-mortem examinations found the cause of both children's deaths to be multiple stab wounds.
