BRADFORD's famous Alhambra Theatre will be a star of the small screen after it was chosen to be the stage for the filming of a children's TV show.

BBC channel CBeebies teamed up with Northern Ballet for a production of Aesop's famous fable The Tortoise and the Hare.

Presented by Mr Bloom (Ben Faulks), with members of Northern Ballet and children from the district's schools, the production will be shown on TV on CBeebies at Easter.

It continues the successful collaboration between CBeebies and Northern Ballet which has already seen productions of Elves and the Shoemaker, Ugly Duckling and Three Little Pigs filmed across the north of England.

This year's show will feature its popular characters Mr Bloom and the Tiddlers meeting for the most exciting race of the year.

Kay Benbow, controller of CBeebies, said: "Our Easter shows have been a huge success over the past couple of years and we are delighted to be continuing this year in Bradford.

"They introduce pre-school children to dance, encouraging them to learn the moves and join in with the dancers as they watch the programme.

"Northern Ballet are our perfect dance partners and we look forward to putting on our dancing shoes with them again in 2016."
