A GRANDMOTHER is celebrating after winning more than £16,000 on a TV quiz show.

Ann Quantrill, 57, scooped a £16,666 windfall after accepting the Banker's offer from the last box available on Channel Four show, Deal or No Deal, hosted by Noel Edmonds.

She was offered to swap the box she had kept all through the programme, which she later found out contained £50,000, with a box that had £750 in it. She took the swap and was offered her takings by the Banker and accepted it.

She appeared on 21 shows and spent three weeks in Bristol filming it in February last year.

Mrs Quantrill, of Tordoff Avenue, Scholemoor, said she is planning to spend her money on a new car.

The community link worker for Creative Support in Bradford, who has two children and two grandchildren, said: "It was an amazing time.

"It was absolutely brilliant, I can't believe I have won that amount of money.

"I had to keep it a secret for nearly a year. Only my husband Alan knew as he was there with me.

"It's such a random game. I was prepared to win a penny or nothing.

"Noel was great and kept taking the mickey out of me. The banker was not scary either.

"I have never applied for a quiz show before. I applied off the cuff, I have always liked the show. The next thing I knew I got a phone call to appear on it.

"It has given me the bug for it and I might go on another quiz show."
