People can have their say on services at Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust at a series of events being organised by the trust's board of governors.

The Focus on Medicine series will run every six weeks and cover different topics that members of the foundation trust have highlighted as being of interest to them.

The first sessions cover elderly care, infection control and hospital cleanliness.

The first event takes place on Tuesday from 9.30am to 11.30am in the conference room at Field House, Bradford Royal Infirmary and a second event will be held on Thursday of next week from 2.30pm to 4.30pm at the same venue.

Immediately following the sessions there will be an opportunity for members to have an informal chat with governors.

Nora Whitham, public governor for Bradford West and vice-chairman of the Foundation Trust said: "We want our members to have a greater say in the development of services here at our hospitals.

"Many of our members have already let us know what their interests are by completing and returning the form sent out as part of the membership welcome pack.

"This information is proving invaluable. It has been used to develop our Focus on Medicine series which gives people the opportunity to get behind the headlines and find out for themselves how services operate here at the Foundation Trust but, more importantly, they can let us and the Foundation Trust know what they think about what is being done and make any suggestions they have for how we can all work together to ensure our services meet patient and public expectations. "

To book a place call the membership helpline on 0870 7071532.

People who are not members can still attend the event and sign up to be a member of the foundation trust on the day.
