Dexter the loveable German Shepherd has fallen on his feet after he was found wandering in Bradford with a horrific choke-chain injury.
After he was nursed back to health by the RSPCA, the gentle giant found a new home with Ian Reddy and Andrea Denny, of Wibsey, Bradford. Dexter went back to the RSPCA home in Mount Street, Bradford, with his new family, to thank staff who saved him and to attend an open day to raise funds to enable the charity to continue its work.
The RSPCA appealed for help to trace Dexter's owners after he was found near Tong Garden Centre, Tong Lane, Bradford, in January.
He was wearing a studded leather collar and a heavy choke chain that had embedded in his neck.
His metal fetter had bitten through the flesh and cut into the muscle. A vet had to sedate him to pull it free.
Now Dexter has settled in with the couple's German Shepherd bitch Breeze.
"They get on really well together," said Mr Reddy. "He is a really lovely dog and we both love him to pieces. We think we are very lucky to have him and we would say thank you to the RSPCA for getting him back to health."
