A POTENTIAL burglar in Bradford opened an unlocked door, but was deterred by a door chime sounding.
Police revealed details of the incident in Ravenscliffe as part of their Darker Nights anti-burglary campaign.
When the clocks went back in October, and with the arrival of the longer, darker winter evenings, West Yorkshire Police launched its Winter Anti Burglary Campaign.
The campaign highlights the tactics that burglars use and reminds people of the simple steps we can all take to improve our home security and deter burglars from targeting our homes.
Temporary Assistant Chief Constable Angela Williams said: "Reducing burglary remains a priority and we are committed to bringing offenders to justice. We all have a part to play in reducing these offences and there are simple steps we can all take to deter burglars from our homes, such as locking doors and windows and leaving a light on."
