STAFF at a Crossflatts store are saddling up to raise cash for charity.

Colleagues at Homebase are holding a 24-hour bike ride in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.

They will take one-hour turns on an exercise bike in the store, throughout today and tomorrow.

The event is being run with staff at the on-site Argos outlet and Cross Hills-based Beny Sports is supplying the bike.

"Macmillan is our chosen charity this year and as a store we have already raised nearly £600 through a variety of events including cake bakes and Easter egg hunts," said Darren Brayshaw, assistant customer experience manager.

"As well as collecting sponsorship from family and friends, we are inviting our customers to support us by giving small donations.

"Customers have been generous with their support to date and we're extremely grateful.

"We would also like to thank Beny Sports for providing the bike."
