THEATRE-GOERS queued around the block at the Alhambra today to snap up the first tickets for hit show Wicked.

As revealed by the Telegraph & Argus, the West End and Broadway musical phenomenon will run for five weeks at the theatre next year, prior to a major international tour.

The production will re-open here, following its recent tour of the UK and Ireland - making Bradford the only British city to host Wicked outside London in 2016.

Wicked, the untold story of the Witches of Oz, is the latest coup for the Alhambra, which also has two other major musicals, Mary Poppins and Billy Elliot, hitting its stage next year.

Tickets for Wicked went on sale to the public this week. Sue Howland, who was first in the queue, was presented with a bouquet of flowers by Bradford Theatres staff.

  • Wicked will run at the Alhambra from July 20 to August 21, 2016. Tickets are available on 01274 432000.
