THE return of a fundraising Christmas fair has generated more than £1,800 for a Bradford Hospice.

The Marie Curie Christmas Fair was held at the Maudesley Street hospice on Saturday, and had been organised by the Bradford Hospice Fundraising Group.

The hospice team used to run a Christmas fair, but there hasn't been one for a few years and Saturday's event marked its return after the group offered to re-start the important fundraising event.

Organisers now say it is likely to be a fixture on the hospice calendar each year.

Money was raised through raffles, a tombola, games and a number of stalls.

David Harvey, one of the organisers, said: "It went very well. We'd hoped a few more people had turned up, but those who did turn out were very generous.

"All the money will go to the hospice, which costs £3.5 million a year to run. About half of that comes from the local health authority, but the other half is through fundraising events like this.

"Everyone enjoyed themselves and we got some very good feedback"
